Living systems as a model for the future

Racine & Voyage is a non-profit for socio-ecological research, knowledge-sharing and experimentation, founded in Barjols, France, in 2024. Our goal: to bring human activity intelligently back into the cycles of living systems.

Our framework

Bringing human activity back into the cycles of living systems

Systemic challenges call for more than fragmented answers. Living systems have always practised interdependence, adaptation and regeneration. We bring science, traditional knowledge, the arts, body practices and fieldwork into dialogue. To do so, we work on three levers.

Understand

Reconciling economy and ecology

An interdisciplinary research programme linking ecological, social and economic dynamics: ecosystem resilience, soils and material cycles, socio-economic models and forms of human organisation.

Share

Making science a lever for organisations

Talks, workshops and exhibitions for professionals and industry. They receive an outstanding service and, at the same time, support our project and the research it is built on. Our offers

Act

Experimenting in the field

Putting ideas to the test of reality, together with local people: Participatory Living Worksites, citizen missions (World Cleanup Day, World March for Peace), solidarity and immersive trips, local gatherings and, tomorrow, our own sites.

Our path · development plan 2027 – 2030

Where we come from, where we are going

From a personal journey to a concrete utopia: ecosystems where humans find their place within the living world again. Each step creates the conditions for the next, and growth follows our resources.

  1. The roots

    An engineer in the field

Trained in applied mathematics and fluid mechanics, then in doctoral research in China, Jade Marie Junqua has taught and learned on three continents, from Mongolia to the Andes by way of Andalusia.

  2. 2024 – 2026

    The association takes root

Founded in Barjols, first actions on three continents, first edition of VaR. See our history

  3. 2027

    Bring together

    The people driving change

Professionals, thinkers, industry: we bring them on board through our company talks, our travelling exhibitions and the round tables we organise or join. Highlight: VaR 2027.

  4. 2028

    Share

Young people aged 16 to 25

Training for work (mainstream and vocational schooling, advice, guidance, mentoring) and reintegration (school dropouts, rural youth, youth justice, child protection, youth employment services), with the relevant organisations. Highlight: the first official VaR festival.

  5. 2029

    Travel

The first journey, the first gala

A dozen local young people travel to help a school, an orphanage or a village in Africa, Brazil or Nepal: our first “breakaway” trip for reintegration. At Christmas, our first gala, with an auction and a fashion show, to raise funds.

  6. 2030

    Take root

    The first land

Year after year, our actions and our impact grow. By 2030, the association will be ready to acquire its first land and set up the Living Labs.

In 2027, we bring people together. In 2028, we pass it on. In 2029, we travel. In 2030, we take root.

Finance is the vehicle. The biosphere is the destination.

Ten days in which professionals, scientists, entrepreneurs, artists, young people and local residents share their knowledge around one question: how can we build more resilient, cooperative and regenerative territories together?

  • Understand17 – 19 Sept. · CorrensTalks, round tables, workshops and professional meetings.
  • Experiment20 – 23 Sept. The Living Worksites: regenerative ecology, circular economy, social ties.
  • Cooperate24 Sept.World Cleanup Day, film and debate, and a round table with local stakeholders.
  • Celebrate25 – 26 Sept. · BarjolsMusic village, a big concert at the stadium, then the Minute of Noise for peace and non-violence.

Full programme published in June 2027.

Youth project · ages 16 – 25

ReV Youth Hub

Young people are the transforming force of our society. With vocational schools, youth employment services and child protection and youth justice services, we help them towards a trade or a fresh start: living worksites, guidance, solidarity trips.

Dès VaR 2027

Core project · Our reason for being

The Living Labs

Acquiring land to recreate living ecosystems, and building an international network of sites that bring together four functions:

  • Research : an R&D platform on soils, mycology and regenerative models.
  • Education : an open school, from science to martial arts, and a place where young people can rebuild their lives.
  • Experimentation : regenerative practices adapted to each territory.
  • Entrepreneurship : an incubator for activities that work with living systems.

The founder

Jade Marie Junqua

Engineer · Researcher · Speaker · Founder of Racine & Voyage

An engineering graduate of ENSEIRB-MATMECA in mathematical and mechanical modelling, with a master’s degree in applied mathematics, Jade Marie Junqua trained in doctoral research in fluid mechanics in China, working on 3D modelling of turbulence.

Her path then spread across three continents, combining teaching, knowledge sharing and fieldwork: science and languages in France, China, Mongolia and Spain; agriculture, ecology, mycology and body practices alongside local communities. Today she brings together mathematics, systems thinking, biomimicry and life sciences to open new ways of approaching complexity.
